Guidelines for Nomination

Overview

The Richard L. Reeves Leadership Award is presented to an individual who has distinguished herself or himself by outstanding contributions and involvement within the IFTA Community. The award recognizes effective leadership and outstanding accomplishments and contributions within the nominee’s jurisdiction or within the IFTA community.

Nomination Guidelines

You may nominate one person within a jurisdictional member agency or industry member (currently employed or retired) who has made significant contributions to the organization and/or their own jurisdiction, company, or within the IFTA community.

Nominations must be received by July 7, 2023 for consideration.

Awards Presentation

The winner is recognized at the IFTA Annual Business Meeting.

Award Criteria

Any employee or retiree of a member jurisdiction or industry member may be nominated for the Richard L. Reeves IFTA Leadership Award. The Selection Committee then evaluates the merit of each nomination. Criteria for the nominees are:

  • that the nominee is/was an IFTA member, jurisdiction or industry
  • has made outstanding contributions to the IFTA community
  • was/is a leader in the jurisdictions and the IFTA community
  • was/is known for developing creative and proactive programs within their jurisdiction or for their company

This award is given for distinguished service to an individual who has demonstrated those qualities that most exemplify the standards of leadership established by Rick Reeves during his 25 years of commitment to the Transportation Industry.


The ideal candidate for the Richard L. Reeves Leadership Award has contributed to the IFTA organization in one or more of the followings ways:

  • Has contributed as a presenter at an IFTA function such as the IFTA/IRP Audit Workshop, IFTA Managers and Law Enforcement Workshop, IFTA Attorneys Section Meeting or the IFTA Annual Business Meeting
  • Has served on an IFTA Steering or Special Committee
  • Has demonstrated ongoing commitment to fairness in the administration of the IFTA
  • Has demonstrated willingness to act as a mentor for new membership
  • Has actively participated in support of the concepts embodied by IFTA
